Navigating the line between abstraction and realism, my paintings are infused with light, air, and atmosphere. My subjects are derived from nature and include complex botanical forms and delicate gestural renderings of birds and other creatures. Painting from nature has long been an interest of mine. What began as a study in depth, pattern and color has evolved into a form of meditation.
Recently, I have been working on figurative paintings which reflect my experience as a mother and a yoga practitioner.
I received my BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis and a K-12 certificate in art education from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am a certified (200 hour) yoga instructor with a 95 hour children's specialty. Alongside my endeavors as a professional artist, I have taught art in the Chicago Public Schools and other educational settings for over 15 years. My paintings can be seen in various shops and galleries at the local, national and international level.
