Navigating the line between abstraction and realism, my paintings are infused with light, air, and atmosphere. My subjects are derived from nature and include complex botanical forms and delicate gestural renderings of birds and other creatures. Painting from nature has long been an interest of mine. What began as a study in depth, pattern and color has evolved into a form of meditation.
Recently, I have been working on figurative paintings which reflect my experience as a mother.
I received my BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis and a certificate in art education from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I teach art part-time in a dual language (Spanish/English) elementary school in Chicago and continue to exhibit my paintings at the local, national and international level. My greatest joy is sharing life with my husband, two young sons and two teenaged stepsons.
